This is a pair of beautifully crafted, high-quality Asian black lacquer yoke-back chairs made by Century Chair Company for Drexel in 1983. The intricate painted scenes and gilt details have been rendered by hand; the banding and sabots are solid brass in the James Mott style. Chairs are lacquered hard wood and 100% structurally solid. Seats are entirely new materials—high-density foam wrapped in Dacron and upholstered with beautiful plush moss green fabric in perfect harmony with the painted scene. Everything is in extremely fine condition; the black lacquer retains its sheen and the paintings remain in like-new shape.
