Ornate Sconce Mirror Shelf Set by Syroco $249
Wow, what those Syroco designers were able to accomplish with resin! This ornate mid-century gothic sconce and mirror set is a great example; though it is made from resin, it looks like carved wood, and what’s more, it is as durable and solid and long-lasting, only perhaps more so. Just like all the great mid-century designers, the folks at Syroco were exploring what could be achieved with modern materials. We’ve become a bit jaded now from the ubiquity of man-made plastics and resins, but in 1967 it was still an exciting, and even important, area to explore. This is a very clean set, with no chips or cracks to the resin and the mirror has no silver loss. The pieces are pretty and well-made, and together they bring a lot of romance to the wall.
