This completely restored chair is a feat of engineering. A signed Plycraft, dated April 1964, the seat is designed with a patented spring support system instead of the hard shell supports of other more available Mulhauser models. That, combined with the full reclining capabilities and the clever gliding arms that follow you back smoothly as you recline work together to create a level of comfort that is remarkable, particularly in a mid century modern chair. The tension of the recline is adjustable. The entire chair has been meticulously and painstakingly restored by being completely disassembled and rebuilt from the ground up. It is reupholstered in burnt orange top grain cow hide (only a few shades darker than the original orange vinyl) and the mechanicals have been brought back to top working order. The gorgeous walnut vaneer over the bent plywood has also been completely refinished. Overall, this is an exceedingly comfortable, well-built and handsome lounge chair.
