Why not bring these three distinguished scholars to your bookcase and see if they are shocked by your literary tastes as they appear to be by whatever they are looking up? This is a rare set of K & O bronze finish bookends with the company's classic bursts of polychromatic color showing up here in the books they are holding. They are heavy cast grey metal in excellent condition, with only one surface issue to mention--finish loss on the lower side of one, which is purely aesthetic and has impacted only the surface. Otherwise, the colors are all intact and there is no damage to any of the noteworthy detailing. Signed and marked 1936.

The famed Brooklyn-based Kronheim & Oldenbusch Company hired well-known sculptors of the day to create the molds for their extremely intricate cast metal bookends. By the early 1940's, they had closed their doors, but not before they created some of the most sought-after Deco era bookends available today.
