Though this mid-century table lamp is meant to be a pineapple, it is elegant and not kitschy. That is no small feat. As you might expect from the name Royal Haeger, the lamp is ceramic, with yellow jewels (faceted cut plastic) that glow magically when lit. Gilded around the base, with some of the gold worn away--and yet it matters not, the impact is still fabulous. There are three yellow jewels missing--two around the top and one near the base. You have to look hard very hard to notice this, and the light shines through the holes anyway. Newly re-wired with decorative gold cord. Pineapples are symbolic of warmth and hospitality. This one is also symbolic of great mid-century design and workmanship.
