TIME CAPSULE TIK TEK ENGINEERING KOVACS BLACK CLEAR SPACE AGE CLOCK

I Like Mike's Mid-Century Modern

Designed by Steve Diskin for Kovacs, this clock quickly became an icon and is very difficult to find. Here we will quote directly from a 1983 NY Times article about new clock designs:

Mr. Diskin does not make clocks that are easy to read. The advertising for another Diskin clock, the compact Time Capsule, suggests that it is ''for Mensa members only.'' The clock, available at Macy's for $46, is indeed complex because the designer has reversed the usual role of hands and face: he has made the face move and the hands stationary. Three circles, with marks indicating hours, minutes and seconds, rotate; there is a fixed point next to which the time is read.

With the look of a compass, it has a spun aluminum base with an epoxy black finish, aluminum discs and an acrylic dome. Manufactured from 1983-1986 by Tik-Tek Engineering in Los Angeles. Runs on C battery, in excellent condition. Please note: Mensa membership not included.
