Memphis Design was a brightly burning design movement in the last 1980s, influencing even established designers like Robert Sonneman, who crafted this spot-on example of the colorful, geometric aesthetics of the Neo-Deco era.

Unlike many other Memphis pieces, however, this lamp does not embrace plastic. The red shroud and black stems are metal, the base is a wood block painted yellow, and the overall impact is both of its time and timeless.

Fresh, fun, and inventive, it is an extremely rare lamp by one of the all time lighting masters of the 20th Century, in remarkably good condition.
