I Like Mike's Mid Century Modern
$299.00
The Mauthe Clock Company was started in Germany by Friedrich Mauthe in 1844. It had a good run, lasting until 1976. In the 1920s, over 60% of the clocks exported from Germany to England were Mauthes...but the onslaught of cheap clocks from other parts of the world was no doubt hard to compete with, especially when you make high-quality time pieces like this lovely brass mantle clock.
This little wind-up beauty, circa 1950, has surprising heft and superior design; it keeps excellent time and the alarm works as well. There are small surface signs of age on the brass, but if you choose, you could polish off the patina for a high shine. The face and bezel are unscratched. Glow-in-the-dark hands and number markers.Overall, a truly impressive clock.
