I Like Mike's Mid-Century Modern
Sold Out
This beautiful mid-century teak dining set is the real deal. The opposite of pretentious, it is honest grown-up furniture that is not trying too hard to be "Danish Modern" because it doesn't have to. It just is. Purchased in Denmark over 50 years ago, brought here by sea, used happily by a family for decades, and now completely and meticulously restored in Brooklyn for you. Not new, better than new. It is made of the rich fiery teak from old-growth forests that is no longer available today. The table has been carefully hand sanded and finished with 4 coats of teak oil--gorgeous--and (with two leaves) has the capacity to expand not once but twice, effectively offering 3 tables in one. The chairs were completely disassembled so that the old glue residue could be painstakingly removed and every joint could be properly re-glued with expert clamping. The effect is tight, structurally sound chairs despite decades of use. The wood has been re-oiled and the seats have been professionally reupholstered with authentic Danish style material and all new foam and materials.
