I Like Mike's Mid Century Modern
$189.00
This 1940's Florn wind-up travel clock works like a charm and has a pleasantly quiet tick-tock, but the worn condition of the green leather case would normally take it out of the running for our shop. However, sometimes the whole is worth more than the sum of its parts. The two movie star wallet photos (Gene Tierney and Betty Grabble) lovingly placed on either side of the clock--instead of family photos--combined with the well-used case, hints at an interesting story. We have questions! Did this New York-made clock belong to a traveling salesman? Or perhaps a teenage boy who kept it his entire life, staying loyal to Gene and Betty despite the march of time? And, just who's handwriting is that on the back of the photos? Alas, we will never know.
What we do know is that this clock tells time well and certainly deserves respect for that, never mind how good looking it is. And, perhaps you can answer one question...who will star in the next installment of this clock's story?
