Sometimes you want your artwork to feel wise, like it knows more than you do, from having graced walls before you were even born. This is such a piece, with a subtly water-stained linen matting that does not detract from the print (which remains in very good and vividly colorful condition) so much as suggest a wonderfully storied past.
The print is of a gorgeous blue sky pastoral landscape by Maurice Vlaminck, on textured board emulating painting strokes. A Turner Wall Accessories piece, it dates from the 1950s or early 60s.
