I Like Mike's Mid-Century Modern

Jens Risom did not mess around when it came to making furniture that would stand up to the every day use and abuse that would inevitably fall upon it when exposed to the professional office environment. At that time, “Professional” of course meant it was host to a plethora of leaky, coasterless morning coffee cups, leaky, coasterless noon-time ‘bourbon on the rocks’ glasses, and--coming in at the all time, number one best use of beautiful American Walnut--this fine credenza also had the privilege to double as a lit cigarette holder for men who were too important to walk ten steps across the room to retrieve an ashtray!
Well, those days are gone and today most of the prior mentioned infringements would get one sued (or at the very least ostracized). Luckily, because of its rock-solid construction, this solid walnut and walnut veneer piece always was and still is 100% structurally sound. Drawer pulls are a black powder-coated aluminum and really accent the clean lines of the cabinet. Its exceptional craftsmanship means that you simply cannot overload the file drawer or compromise the shelves with the weight of your stuff. Furthermore, the above mentioned mid-century ‘use’ left only minor blemishes that were completely eradicated by a total sanding of the top, which was then oiled and rubbed out by hand. Additionally, the body of the cabinet was re-oiled and carefully touched-up, and as a result, this piece’s dignity has been 100% restored.
