This is a substantial pair of lamps, despite being tiny. They are solid brass that has been polished in some places and enameled in other places. Overall, they are more about being ornate sculptures than about giving off much light. They do give light, however--a red glow that provides lovely accent lighting. Red cords add to the overall mystique of these fancy little table lamps.
